VOTE FOR SELMA IN THE STRONG TOWNS COMPETITION

We did it! We're in the FINAL FOUR!!

Voting for the semifinals opens April 1!
A writer from Strong Towns will reach out to us and begin work on a feature profile of our community. Nikki Wall, the Town of Selma community engagement coordinator, and Cindy Brookshire, co-founder of Activate Selma are the main contacts. Nikki and Cindy will coordinate with our partners, Sergio Benitez and Kelly Blanchard, president and treasurer of Latinos Activate JoCo and Adele and Robert Walker, administrators of the Facebook group Life in Selma, North Carolina to give the Strong Towns writers the information they need. When the profile is published on StrongestTown.com and StrongTowns.org, the voting in the semifinals begins.

Of the four towns, one town will win each match-up based on popular votes. Two towns will advance to the Championship. at www.strongesttown.com

In this bracket-style voting tournament, Selma will compete for the “Strongest Town” title by shining a national spotlight on its progress toward safety, financial resiliency, housing, and transportation.

Cast your vote for Selma in ROUND 4 on Monday, April 1 at strongesttown.com

Competitors will advance over five rounds, based on weekly voting periods. One champion will be  honored at the Strong Towns National Gathering, with two representatives flown in and presented  with an award. Strong Towns will also create a short documentary film about the winning city.

Here’s how voting works. In the first round, Selma, NC will compete with three other cities in a special category, “Progress in Public Engagement.” Then, all cities will advance to Round 2, where they will compete head-to-head and advance weekly based on votes collected during that period:
Round 1 - Meet Your Contestants (March 4-8)
Round 1 has ended.  We are moving on to Round 2!!

Round 2 - Sweet Sixteen (March 11-14)
Be sure to VOTE starting Monday, March 11th
